Council Strips (CSPs)

(For Jamboree Strips, click here.)

Prior to 1981, the Muskingum Valley Council did not issue a general-use council strip, as was common in other councils.

Instead, each community had strips that were worn with the unit number to show their location.

There WAS a generic strip, in the same pattern as the community/state strips which was used by district and council Scouters, along with participants at National events.

In 1981, the Council issued its first true council strip, designated as S-1a.  This strip was first issued to the council's contingent to the National Scout Jamboree that year.  It later went into general circulation.

Later, a change in manufacturer created a variation in the design.  This was designated S-1b, and can be identified by the direction of the threads in the gold portions of the Ohio map.

Since 1989, our council has issued special strips to the scouts and leaders attending the National Scout Jamboree.  As these strips contain special mention of the Jamboree and/or the logo, they are not classified as council strips (CSPs) but rather as jamboree strips (JSPs).  To see these strips, click here.
